These orchid growing guides are written with respect to the growing conditions of the Riverina, an inland region of New South Wales, Australia. The region experiences a mediterranean like climate with hot and relatively dry summers with temperatures commonly in the mid to high 30’s C, but can reach 43C with humidity around 12%. Winters are cold and wet with daytime maximums around 12-15C and night temperatures of -2 to 3C with frosts common. The climate is described in the first item below.
